Global July hotel bookings through global distribution system channels were up 5.5 percent compared with the prior year,

according to Pegasus Solutions. The average daily rate for those bookings was up 0.3 percent year over year. Pegasus CEO David Millili called the summer uptick "unusual but welcome" and noted that "the demand and rates are expected to continue through the end of the summer and into autumn, and the length of stay may even grow by almost 2 percent this month."
