Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotels has appointed as CEO former Carlson Rezidor executive vice president and chief development officer Puneet Chhatwal,

effective Jan. 1. Steigenberger CFO Matthias Heck had taken on the CEO role at the company since former chief executive Arco Buijs left the company in February by "mutual consent" concerning "differing strategic views with regard to future development." Steigenberger operates about 80 hotels under the upscale Steigenberger and midprice InterCityHotel brands, largely in Germany.
