Former Interstate Hotels & Resorts CEO Paul Whetsell on Jan. 17 will become CEO of Loews Hotels,

replacing the retiring Jack Adler. Whetsell in 1987 founded CapStar Hotel Co., which at its peak consisted of more than 110 hotels and $3 billion in assets. CapStar in 1998 split into two companies, one of which eventually became Interstate. More recently, Whetsell provided guidance on acquisition and operations as a board member of Virgin Hotels.
