Africa's hotel capacity will increase by 30 percent during the next five years, according to Lagos-based research firm W Hospitality Group,
with a total of 208 hotels representing 38,000 rooms in planning or under construction. About half of those rooms are projected to open within the next two years. Leading the continent's development action is Nigeria, where 43 hotels with 6,808 rooms are under development, and Morocco, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia. Accor and Carlson Rezidor have the largest pipelines on the continent, according to W Hospitality Group.
