WestJet will increase its August schedule by 10 percent compared with July, though its schedule will be only about a quarter of what it was flying last August.
The schedule includes more than 200 daily flights to 48 destinations in North America and Europe. Returning service includes nonstop flights on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft from Calgary to both London Gatwick and Paris as of Aug. 20, and the carrier also is resuming weekly service to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Despite the overall increase, the August schedule includes some reduced frequencies and suspensions on domestic routes due to "the patchwork of domestic travel restrictions and quarantine periods that are currently in place within our own borders," according to WestJet chief commercial officer Arved von zur Muehlen.
