Korean Air will expand international operations in June to 146 flights per week on 32 routes, compared with 55 flights per week on 13 routes in May.
Much of the restored capacity will be in Asia. In Northeast Asia, Korean Air is serving only Tokyo Narita and Shenyang, China, this month. In June, the carrier will expand service to Shenyang and restore some service to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Mudanjiang, Qingdao and Yanji in China, as well as Taipei, Taiwan, and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In Southeast Asia—where Korean Air currently is serving Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta and Phnom Penh, Cambodia—the carrier will restore some service to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Yangon, Myanmar; Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam; and Singapore, as well as increasing service to Phnom Penh.
Korean Air also will restore some service to Europe and North America. In Europe, the carrier will up weekly service to Paris and London and restore some service to Frankfurt and Amsterdam. In North America, Korean Air will restore some service to Washington, D.C., Seattle, Vancouver and Toronto and increase service to Atlanta and Chicago. It will keep seven weekly flights to each New York and Los Angeles.
Service to the Oceania region will remain suspended in June. Korean Air operated 110 international routes prior to the Covid-19 crisis.
The carrier is requiring all passengers to wear protective masks. Cabin crew members are wearing goggles, masks and gloves on all flights as well as protective gowns on medium- and long-haul flights.
