Global air passenger demand in October grew 3.4 percent year over year, according to the International Air Transport Association. Global capacity grew 2.2 percent year over year. Global load factor grew 0.9 percentage points to 82 percent, a record for the month of October.
"Traffic growth continues to be depressed compared to historical long-term growth levels, reflecting continued moderating activity in some key markets and sagging business confidence," IATA director general and CEO Alexandre de Juniac said. "However, the fact that traffic is growing is a positive, and the industry continues to do an excellent job of maximizing asset efficiency, as shown in the record load factor."

October crossborder demand climbed 3.2 percent year over year. With the exception of Latin America, all regions recorded increases, according to IATA. Crossborder capacity grew 1.6 percent year over year. Crossborder load factor edged up 1.3 percentage points to 81 percent.
Worldwide domestic demand climbed 3.6 percent year over year in October. Capacity rose 3.4 percent year over year. Load factor rose a 0.2 percent point to 83.9 percent.
