Travel and safety risk assessment provider GeoSure has launched a new safety certification for accommodations and destinations to highlight those that "have demonstrated verified safety excellence," according to the company.
The certification, GeoSure Safety Badges, includes two distinctions for destinations and accommodations. The 5-Star Safety Badge is for the top quintile of scorers across GeoSure's scoring system, which evaluates destinations on a variety of categories including physical safety, health safety and safety specific to women and LGBTQ+ travelers. The Safe Traveler Favorite Badge is for areas and properties that have consistently high safety ratings among travelers, according to GeoSure.
Destinations and accommodations that earn the badges can display them on their own channels to add safety and security assurance for travelers booking or choosing a destination, but "the vision is as a potential safety differentiator for [online booking tools] to highlight to quintile properties, destinations for meetings and events or [properties] within preferred hotel programs," GeoSure co-founder and CEO Michael Becker said. "It's meant to emphasize trust, the positive side of safety distinction."
