Chinese and U.S. regulators further have eased flight restrictions between the two countries to allow four weekly flights each by U.S. and Chinese carriers, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
U.S. DOT last week temporarily suspended all flights by Chinese carriers and then later relaxed the rules to allow one weekly flight when China's regulators did the same. In a statement, the department said it is pushing for "full restoration" of passenger air travel between the two countries and would reciprocate as Chinese regulators allow for more flights by U.S. carriers.
Delta Air Lines this week said it planned to restart service to Shanghai via Incheon next month, and it now plans to have two flights to Shanghai from Seattle via Incheon starting next week, according to a Delta spokesperson. In July, it will offer one flight each per week to Shanghai via Incheon from each Detroit and Seattle.
