Brussels Airlines plans to resume flight operations on June 15, starting with a reduced schedule that will build up as demand and travel restrictions dictate, according to the carrier.
The airline, which suspended flights on March 21, has not released its planned schedule but said it would add flights to meet both corporate and leisure demand in markets including Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Greece. Brussels Airlines also is instituting sanitary measures for its return, including additional disinfection of aircraft and requiring facial coverings for passengers.
Earlier this week, Brussels Airlines said it was undertaking a turnaround plan that would reduce its fleet size 30 percent and its workforce 25 percent, and the carrier also is requesting state aid from the Belgian government. Brussels Airlines has been losing about €1 million per day since suspending operations, it said.
