American Airlines has extended its capacity cuts into the summer, suspending more than 60 percent of its international capacity for the peak summer season.
The cuts include reducing transpacific capacity by 80 percent, transatlantic capacity by 75 percent and capacity to Latin America by 48 percent. The carrier now expects to resume some international routes—between Dallas-Fort Worth and both Hong Kong and Seoul and between New York-Kennedy and Paris, for example—on July 7. Several other routes have been pushed back to restart on Oct. 25, and other routes are suspended for the summer altogether. In addition, American is pushing back the start of some planned new service, such as its route between Seattle and Bangalore.
American on Sunday will update its schedule to reflect those changes.
