Kazakhstani carrier Air Astana on Oct. 2 will begin new nonstop service between Almaty and Frankfurt. The flights are timed to connect with partner Lufthansa's service to London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester in the United Kingdom and also will provide connections to Lufthansa's network elsewhere in Europe and North America. Air Astana plans to operate two flights per week on the route and add a third flight on Oct. 26. The carrier already operates flights between Frankfurt and Kazakhstan's capital, Nur-Sultan, which it restarted in August.
