The Walt Disney Co.'s U.S.-booked air volume in 2025 increased 11 percent year over year to $146 million as the media and entertainment conglomerate worked to grow engagement, enhance reporting and add efficiency in its travel program.
The year started off with the need for enhanced T&E support for Disney's employees and offices in California due to the devastating wildfires in the state. The company in 2025 also launched a global airline request for proposals aligned with evolving travel patterns and business needs for the company. Disney is finalizing the outcome and implementing the results of that RFP this year.
Meanwhile, Disney's travel team work to automate multiple distribution files and credit card reconciliation processes, which cut back on manual work, reduced the need for back-and-forth between the team and agency partners and improved data accuracy. The team also enhanced reporting for online booking adoption and summarized the company's T&E spend, which provided clearer insights to finance and business stakeholders.
The company is exploring opportunities to tap AI to drive additional efficiencies and automation and make it easier for travelers to access timely, relevant travel information.
Disney's travel team in 2025 launched a refreshed branding site and intranet site for Disney Global Travel & Expense, which has strengthened visibility and engagement with the travel program as well as recognition of the team and the services they provide.
This year, the travel team is working to support the leadership transition at the company, as CEO Josh D'Amaro took the reins from longtime CEO Bob Iger, and the team is partnering cross-functionally to meet the executive direction and strategic priorities of the new leadership. Disney also is partnering with ESPN, which is majority-owned by Disney, on the acquisition of the NFL Network and its related media assets to support onboarding employees and refine travel booking procedures specific to the needs of sports and media production.
American Express Global Business Travel handles all of Disney's U.S. point-of-sale booking and more than 80 percent of its total global bookings. BCD Travel handles the remainder of Disney's bookings worldwide.
