Global development bank The World Bank Group had slight reductions in U.S.-booked air volume in 2025 as the organization focused on travel service location consolidation and online booking compliance.
The organization, a group of five international organizations that make leveraged loans to developing countries, spent $148 million in U.S.-booked air in 2025, down from $155 million in 2024. The World Bank made changes to its lowest logical airfare parameters in January 2026, including prioritizing nonstop flights, narrowing the search window and defaulting to restricted and nonrefundable fares.
In 2025, the World Bank finalized a global request for proposals for travel management company services, with which it consolidated some markets and reduced service locations. American Express Global Business Travel, in addition to servicing all the group's U.S.-booked travel, handles more than 60 percent of its travel globally, with BCD Travel servicing the remainder.
The World Bank also has been working to increase use of its online booking tool, Concur Travel.
The World Bank reported nearly 20,800 full-time employees in 144 locations as of the end of its 2025 fiscal year, which runs from July through June.
