Virgin America and Alaska Airlines in March had the best on-time performance ratios among large U.S. airlines,
according to FlightStats, with 87.3 percent and 85.6 percent of scheduled flights, respectively, arriving within 15 minutes. JetBlue Airways was the lowest-performing large U.S. carrier during the month, with an on-time ratio of 72.7 percent. Among all North American airlines, top performers were Alaska Air Group subsidiary Horizon (90.5 percent) and Hawaiian (89.6 percent), and those ranking at the bottom were Allegiant (65.9 percent) and Canada's WestJet (69.5 percent). In terms of flight cancellation rates at North American airports, New York LaGuardia had the highest (4.8 percent), followed by Washington Dulles (4.5 percent) and Washington National (4.3 percent).
