US Airways this weekend will begin using a single reservations system
, according to Travel Weekly, marking a milestone in the US Airways-America West Airlines merger. Scheduled for the early morning hours of March 4, the migration would bring all operations handled by a Sabre reservations system used by the pre-merger US Airways to the EDS Shares system used by pre-merger America West and favored by the combined entity. "Having two reservations systems is the source of many of the frustrations that you may have encountered online, on the phone and at the airports," US Airways wrote in a recent memo to its frequent flyers. "But the end is in sight and our IT division and EDS continue to work overtime to prepare for a cutover. We are anticipating a smooth, middle-of-the-night transition with very little impact on our customers' ability to interact with us."
