The carrier secured slots that British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia
agreed to relinquish to win European Commission approval of their antitrust-immune joint venture. US Airways indicated the new service would originate in Miami, "offering customers in South Florida convenient one-stop service to London via the airline's Charlotte hub."
