The U.S. Transportation Security Administration reaffirmed full-body airport scanners "operate well within applicable national safety standards,"
according to a TSA blog post. After reviewing radiation reports for 15 airports of "varying sizes" during the last two years, TSA was able to "confirm" that "each piece of technology," including "every backscatter advanced imaging technology unit," emitted legal amounts of radiation. TSA also said it will conduct "ongoing radiation tests throughout the life of the technology," and that it "is going above and beyond regulatory standards to ensure passengers and operators are not being exposed to excessive radiation doses."
