The U.S. Department of Homeland Security plans to extend to 29 Dec the comment period on its controversial Automated Targeting System
. Homeland Security last month revealed that for the past four years it has been scoring the security risks of millions of international travelers, and as of Monday planned to institute this program. More than 60 comments have been electronically filed, with most protesting implementation. The Business Travel Coalition, National Business Travel Association, Electronic Frontier Foundation, American Civil Liberties Union, the Identity Project and Siemens travel manager Dan Baillie are among those objecting to the program.
