Average rail fares paid by users of Evolvi's corporate rail booking tool fell to £58.85 in 2013 from £61.81 in 2012.
"The reduction in average ticket values appears to reflect both a greater awareness of savings available through advance fares and a continuing shift towards standard-class travel," according to Evolvi trade relations director Jon Reeve. Evolvi also reported that it handled 6.7 million transactions during 2013, up 16 percent from 2012. Based on U.K. Rail Settlement Plan figures, Evolvi generated ticket revenues of £397 million, accounting for a 59 percent market share of U.K. corporate agency rail business, up 4 percentage points from 2012 and 9 percentage points from 2011.
