Amtrak launched e-ticketing capabilities across its network.

Emailed after booking, e-tickets now can be printed prior to departure "or by using a smartphone to present the e-ticket to the conductor," according to the rail operator. Based on a five-route trial, Amtrak indicated that e-ticketing "resulted in shorter lines at ticket counters, less tickets sold onboard trains and fewer claims of lost tickets."
