Amtrak blamed Hurricane Sandy for a 1.2 percent year-over-year drop in Northeast Corridor passengers during the six months through March,
including a 3.4 percent decline in Acela Express passengers. Amtrak's Northeast Corridor passenger volume now "is seeing a solid recovery and is predicted to show gains for the full fiscal year," which ends in September, according to the rail operator.
