Alaska Airlines in July once again was the most punctual major U.S. airline with an on-time performance rate of 84 percent,

according to FlightStats. On average, North American airlines delivered slightly more than 73 percent of their flights to the gate within 15 minutes of schedule. Among the eight largest U.S. carriers, only JetBlue and Virgin America fell below that average with on-time performance rates of 63.5 percent and 69.4 percent, respectively. Southwest (76.3 percent), US Airways (74.7 percent), Delta (74.6 percent), United (74.3 percent) and American (73.7 percent) posted better-than-average performances.
