BTN's 4th Annual Expense Manager Survey Methodology(2)
To conduct its fourth annual Expense Manager Survey, Business Travel News sent e-mails to about 9,226 company expense and payment managers in August and September, inviting them to fill out a questionnaire hosted online by Boulder, Colo.-based Equation Research, which tabulated answers from 210 respondents.
Respondents were offered a chance to win two Northwest Airlines tickets to anywhere in the United States in return for completing the questionnaire.
Almost 80 percent of the respondents said they were responsible for selecting or administering both expense reporting systems and payment systems for their organization, with 21 percent responsible only for expense reporting tools.
Average U.S. booked air volume for respondents' companies was $6.2 million, with more than 60 percent of respondents coming from organizations that spend less than $2 million annually. Another 24 percent were midmarket companies, with volumes of $2 million to $12 million.
