The U.S. General Services Administration awarded charge-card contracts to Citibank, GE Capital Financial, JPMorgan Chase and U.S. Bancorp
. The four contracts for the GSA SmartPay 2 program cover "governmentwide purchase, travel, fleet and integrated charge card services." GSA said the existing SmartPay program "is the largest government charge-card program in the world," and the follow-up program is valued at $260 billion over 10 years. It will include prepaid cards, "contactless cards," foreign-currency cards, spend analyses and new data security requirements.
