South African low-cost carrier Lift has implemented airline technology provider GO7's Orchestrated Virtual Interlining solution, which the company said will allow it to broaden its network.
GO7's virtual interline offering lets carriers sell tickets together on a single booking without complex interlining agreements. The company said its model includes a baggage transfer solution, disruption guarantees and the ability to align ancillaries across carriers. Lift is among the first carriers to adopt the solution, according to GO7.
The carrier said the African aviation market is particularly reliant on codeshares and interline agreements and that it would be able to broaden connectivity more quickly with the virtual interlining option.
"True virtual interlining will open up exciting distribution opportunities for the African aviation market," Lift chief commercial officer Cilliers Jordaan said in a statement. "Orchestrated VI will allow Lift to sell connected journeys that will grow our direct bookings, offer new markets to our customers and open market opportunities for our existing and future partners.
