British Airways cancelled all flights from London Heathrow and all domestic and European flights from London Gatwick for Tuesday and Wednesday
due to a planned strike by unionized cabin crews. The airline said "a significant number of long-haul inbound flights to Heathrow will operate normally," as will flights between the United States and Gatwick. The Transport & General Workers Union said contract negotiations continued over the weekend but reported no progress. T&G also plans 72-hour strikes starting 5 Feb and 12 Feb. BMI and Ryanair said they would operate extra capacity this week to accommodate passengers with disrupted travel plans.
