Anko Van der Werff
Air Canada named Scandinavian Airlines System president and CEO Anko Van der Werff as its next president and CEO, effective by the end of January 2027, the carrier announced Wednesday.
Van der Werff will succeed Michael Rousseau, who in March announced his retirement. Rousseau, who has been with Air Canada for 19 years, will depart the airline on Aug. 31, according to the carrier.
Van der Werff has led SAS since July 2021. He previously was CEO of Avianca and has held leadership positions at Qatar Airways and management roles at KLM, according to Air Canada. In addition, he served on the board of the International Air Transport Association until June 2026.
