Worldwide demand for air travel in August grew 4.5 percent year over year but fell nearly 2 percent from July,
the International Air Transport Association reported this week. "With business and consumer confidence continuing to slump globally there is not a lot of optimism for improved conditions any time soon," according to IATA director general Tony Tyler.
