Southwest contracted with Amadeus to use its Altea reservations system for international service.
The companies are aiming in 2014 to implement Altea for international flights currently operated by Southwest subsidiary AirTran. The deal also "provides the option for Southwest to convert its domestic business to Amadeus in the future," according to a press statement. Southwest currently uses a res system provided by Sabre. "This agreement is a milestone for Amadeus, both in North America and beyond," according to Amadeus president and CEO Luis Maroto.
