Carlson Wagonlit Travel reported 2014 sales volume rose 1.6 percent year over year to $27.3 billion,
according to the privately held travel management company owned by Carlson Companies. Worldwide transactions managed by CWT rose 3.3 percent year over year to 62.3 million, with strength in North America (up 6.3 percent) and Asia (up 5 percent). Transactions in Latin America rose 3.3 percent "despite soft performance in Brazil," while the Europe, Middle East and Africa region saw transactions fall 0.8 percent year over year, "reflecting the delicate economic climate throughout the region in 2014," according to CWT. The TMC for 2014 claimed a 97 percent client retention rate and "new business sales of $1.6 billion."
