The Lufthansa Group on Tuesday reported a loss of €167 million for the first quarter of 2015,
an improvement from a €240 million loss in the first quarter of 2014. Revenue increased 5.2 percent year over year to €5.2 billion. Flight cancellations related to six days of Lufthansa and Germanwings pilot strikes cost the group €42 million, and the company projects that weaker advanced bookings due to the strikes will cause the loss of another €58 million. Across the group, capacity increased 1 percent year over year, and traffic rose 1.3 percent, contributing to a load factor increase of 0.2 percentage points to 75.8 percent. Yield increased 3.7 percent year over year.
