The General Services Administration released fiscal year 2016 per-diem rates today that will go into effect Oct. 1, 2015.
Total per diem will increase to $140, which includes $89 for hotel and $51 for meals and incidentals. The rates are based on local market costs of midprice hotels and provide caps, or maximum amounts, that can be reimbursed to federal employees for lodging and meals while on official travel. GSA determines per diem for the 48 states in the continental United States and covers approximately 2,600 counties. The GSA allows higher per diem in about 400 nonstandard areas.
