Uber has introduced what it called a new luxury ride experience that includes commercially licensed professional chauffeurs with luxury vehicles that are less than three years old, the company announced.
Dubbed Uber Elite, the product is designed for "executives, frequent travelers and riders looking for a more elevated experience," according to the company.
The service includes an option for an airport "meet and greet," for which a chauffeur will meet the passenger at baggage claim, along with complimentary chargers, bottled water, mints and hand-sanitizing towelettes. Special requests can be made in-app, such as a preferred sparkling water or champagne, and there is 24/7 phone support.
Uber Elite is available via invite-only in Los Angeles and San Francisco for frequent Uber Black and Uber for Business clients, and soon will launch in New York City, "with more U.S. and international cities to follow," according to Uber. Availability eventually will expand to all riders.
Riders can book through Uber Reserve, in the Uber app and through the Uber for Business delegate booking feature. Elite rides can be booked at least one hour in advance and up to 90 days ahead, according to the company.
