Car service platform GroundLink will cease operations on
Aug. 31, citing "the catastrophic effects Covid-19 has had on the global
economy and the travel industry," according to an email to customers
obtained by BTN.
The platform, founded in 2003, is automatically transferring
client information to Dav El/BostonCoach, including contact details, travel
history, future rides booked and payment information. Clients as of Sept. 1
will be able to sign into the Dav El/BostonCoach website and app with their
GroundLink usernames and passwords, according to the email. GroundLink is
asking customers who do not want their information transferred to contact them
by Aug. 24.
"The economic slowdown and tremendous reduction in
global business travel has hit a lot of companies hard, and unfortunately
GroundLink was among them," a GroundLink spokesperson said in a statement
confirming the email. "GroundLink has many retail and corporate clients
who have expressed their disappointment in GroundLink’s cessation of
operations, and our biggest concern is to offer these clients access to
continued professional chauffeured car service."
Dav El/BostonCoach parent company Marcou Transportation
Group acquired
GroundLink in 2017.
