On July 3, Etihad Airways will end complimentary
chauffeured services for first and business class travelers at all airports other
than its Abu Dhabi hub. It will replace the free offering with "a paid
option at specially negotiated rates" in other cities. Travelers flying in
the luxury Residence suite on the carrier's Airbus A380 fleet still will get
free chauffeured services at all destinations. Etihad also is opening the paid
chauffeured service option to economy class travelers. Other new ancillary
options for economy class travelers include paid lounge access and the ability
to bid, while booking, on as many as three adjacent empty seats that would
remain empty.
