Amtrak will require passengers to wear facial coverings in stations, trains and buses beginning May 11. Passengers must provide their own facial coverings, but they will be allowed to remove them when seated alone or with a travel companion in a pair of seats as well as in private rooms or designated eating areas. Amtrak also has reduced capacity by 50 percent in both Coach and Business classes to promote physical distancing and is accepting only cashless payments in stations and on trains.
