Chauffeured service supplier Carey International has named former Budget Rent a Car CEO Sandy Miller as its CEO, the company announced.
Miller has a long history in the rental car industry, having built up Team Rental Group, a group of Budget franchises that ultimately acquired Budget's worldwide operations from Ford Motor Co. in 1997. Miller later was behind Budget's sale to Avis. More recently, Miller was founding partner of Daytona Beach-based investment management firm Basin Street Partners, and he serves as a member of Europcar Groupe's supervisory board.
Miller replaces Gary Kessler, who left Carey in April.
Carey also has hired Miller's son, Dan Miller, as its new COO. Dan Miller had worked with his father at Basin Street Partners, managing its investments in the travel and transportation industries, and also was founder and CEO of Transit Treasure, a loyalty rewards program for public transportation users.
The two Millers and Carey CFO Mitchell Lahr will form the company's new "office of the CEO."
