Google Wallet now allows eligible travelers to opt in to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's PreCheck Touchless ID option, the agency announced.
Participation is voluntary. TSA PreCheck members can enable Touchless ID after checking in with a participating airline and adding the boarding pass to Google Wallet. Eligible travelers consent to sharing with TSA an eligible digital ID and boarding pass through the "get started" button. Once verified, Google Wallet will update the boarding pass with the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID indicator.
TSA PreCheck Touchless ID currently is available at 65 airports nationwide, according to TSA. With the Google Wallet rollout, passengers can use the service with more than 100 TSA PreCheck airlines at participating airports.
Passengers still have the option to enable Touchless ID by saving a valid passport to their profile in the individual apps of six airlines—Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines or United Airlines—according to TSA.
