WestJet's ultra-low-cost subsidiary Swoop named
LCC veteran Steven Greenway as its president as the carrier prepares to launch
its first flights this summer. Greenway was a founding member of Singapore
Airlines' low-cost carrier Scoot and has held leadership roles at Virgin Blue,
Virgin Atlantic, Qantas and Japanese LCC Peach Aviation. Most recently,
Greenway was CEO of Reward-U, the loyalty program offered by Hong Kong's HK
Express. Swoop began ticket sales in February and plans to begin service on
June 20 with six weekly flights between Abbotsford, British Columbia, and
Hamilton, Ontario, and between Hamilton and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
