The U.S. Senate on Wednesday confirmed Bryan Bedford as administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration by a vote of 53-43. President Donald Trump in March nominated Bedford, who on July 2 retired as president and CEO of Republic Airways after more than 25 years leading the airline. Former FAA official Chris Rocheleau had been the acting FAA administrator and took over from former FAA administrator Mike Whitaker, who stepped down on Jan. 20.
