U.S. carriers had their best month in recorded
history last November in terms of flight cancellations and mishandled baggage,
according to the Department of Transportation. Reporting carriers canceled 0.29
percent of scheduled domestic flights that month, the lowest monthly percentage
since comparable records began in January 1995. They mishandled 2.02 bags per
1,000 passengers, the lowest since reporting began in 1987. U.S. carriers previously
had canceled a record low number of flights in September and mishandled a
record low number of bags in October.
