The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 4.77 percent year over year in May, totaling $9.2 billion for the month, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip ticket price was $511. The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for U.S. travel agencies increased 3.47 percent year over year to 27.5 million. U.S. domestic trips increased 2.71 percent while international passenger trips grew 4.74 percent. The trips handled by agencies that self-report as handling at least 70 percent corporate/government business rose 3.09 percent. Electronic miscellaneous document sales, which cover ancillary services, totaled $7.4 million, a 16 percent year-over-year drop. EMD transactions increased 3.4 percent year over year.
