Private and charter air operator booking firm OpenJet
debuted its platform in Europe on Friday, enabling real-time bookings by travelers and
agencies.
A traveler or agent enters a citypair and time of departure
and receives quoted fares based on what OpenJet in a statement called "distinctive
set of dynamic variables, such as aircraft type, positioning and performance
but also crew qualification, flight-time limitations and runway requirements."
Users can book their preferred option on the site.
"Our team of Ph.D. mathematicians has built an
optimization engine, using highly scalable algorithms, to find the best
matching aircraft and crew for any given query," OpenJet CEO Shawn
Sullivan said. "We check thousands of parameters to provide
results that guarantee availability and a firm price on any given aircraft."
OpenJet gathers such data through what it called a unique
enterprise resource planning platform it offers to private and charter jet
operators, which allows those firms to record and manage the positions and
operations of individual jets. OpenJet also has a partnership with global
distribution system provider Amadeus.
OpenJet charges a 7.5 percent fee on all
transactions. The company plans to expand its booking platform to U.S. flights
in June and also indicated it plans to include helicopters at an unspecified
date.
