The total consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies in October increased 1.5 percent year over year to $8.3 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip ticket price was $506.
The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for U.S. travel agencies in October rose by 1.5 percent year over year to 25.4 million. U.S. domestic trips increased 2 percent while international passenger trips grew 0.5 percent. The number of trips handled by agencies that self-report as handling at least 70 percent corporate/government rose 2.72 percent year over year.
Electronic miscellaneous sales, which include ancillary services like seat upgrades, totaled $6.8 million, a 10.8 percent year-over-year increase. EMD transactions increased 18.2 percent year over year to 118,925.
