JetBlue has hired former Southwest Airlines executive Carol Clements as its chief digital and technology officer, the carrier announced.
Clements will be leading the carrier's information systems and technology strategies "during one of the most pivotal times for our airline and the industry," according to JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes. "As we work through the pandemic recovery, technology will play a more important role than ever in our success, and it's an area where you can expect to see more investment ahead to the benefit of crewmembers and customers alike."
Clements worked at Southwest for more than 10 years and led the carrier's technology initiative that enabled it to begin international operations, and she also had leadership roles in e-commerce, business intelligence and reservations and loyalty technology. More recently, she was chief technology officer for Pizza Hut.
Clements will begin her role at JetBlue on April 26. She succeeds Eash Sundaram, who retired earlier this year after about a decade in the position.
