International air travel demand increased year
over year across all regions in November, according to the International Air
Transport Association. On a global scale, it rose 7.6 percent. IATA director
general and CEO Alexandre de Juniac noted that the increase indicated an uptick
in the global economy "as the stimulus effect of lower oil prices recedes
in the rearview mirror." The global demand growth outpaced the 6.5 percent
capacity growth, pushing load factor up 0.8 percentage points to 78.9 percent. Domestic
travel demand also increased globally, rising 7.1 percent, although demand decreased
in Brazil and Japan.
