On Dec. 22, Delta will begin daily nonstop service between Mumbai and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Delta suspended service to Mumbai in 2009 amid growing competition from Middle Eastern carriers. In reinstating the route, Delta cited last year's agreements between the U.S. and each Qatar and United Arab Emirates, as well as growing demand for flights between the U.S. and India, particularly from New York. Delta said New York is "the largest U.S. market to India with the largest base of corporate customers." Delta will use newly renovated Boeing 777-200LR aircraft on the route.
