Cathay Pacific will change its standard checked baggage
allowance in September, increasing the weight allowance but limiting the number
of free bags a traveler can check.
For tickets issued Sept. 15 and later, economy passengers on
most flights can check two pieces of luggage totaling 30 kilograms (66 pounds).
Premium economy passengers will be allowed two pieces up to 35 kilograms (77
pounds). Business class passengers will be allowed two pieces up to 40
kilograms (88) pounds, and first class passengers can bring three pieces up to
50 kilograms (110 pounds).
Cathay Pacific's previous rule limited each passenger's
checked luggage to 20 kilograms (44 pounds) for economy, 25 kilograms (55
pounds) for premium economy, 30 kilograms (66 pounds) for business class and 40
kilograms (88 pounds) for first class. However, passengers could check as many
bags as they wanted.
The carrier's flights to the Americas operate
under tighter allowances, limiting passengers across all cabins to two bags totaling
23 kilograms (50 pounds) for economy, 25 kilograms (55 pounds) for premium
economy and 32 kilograms (70 pounds) for both business class and first class.
