Boeing is developing a handheld device for airline staff to help disinfect aircraft using ultraviolet light, according to the aircraft manufacturer. Designed based on collaboration with Boeing's airline customers, the device will allow staff to rapidly disinfect aircraft areas, such as the flight deck, and areas in the cabin like the lavatory, galley and seats. The product currently is being tested and is expected to be available for use by airlines in the fourth quarter of this year, according to Boeing.
